Jessica Stock was born, raised and educated in Michigan. She discovered her love of history during a freshman seminar at the University of Michigan. It was there a beloved professor taught her what history was really about – regular people who lived through extraordinary times. Enthralled, Jessica began a journey to share history’s story with young people in the classroom.
She graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a degree in history and political science, as well as a secondary teaching certificate. Jessica earned her M.A. from Eastern Michigan University and taught history and government for twelve years at one of Michigan’s preeminent high schools. She traveled to Germany on fellowship with the Goethe Institut’s TOP program and was a fellow at Brown University’s Choices Summer Leadership Institute.
Jessica brings her passion for history to her writing, weaving stories based on real people and actual events into exciting adventures to be enjoyed by all YA and adult readers.
Jessica likes camping, cycling, hiking, beaches, craft beer, growing tomatoes in her garden and sleeping with the windows open on a cool summer night. She LOVES to travel, but couldn’t live without her Springer-Beagle dog, Autumn. She is passionate about promoting safe food and products and is a Beautycounter Consultant. When Jessica is not writing, she is driving her kids around to softball, hockey or baseball games and is their biggest cheerleader.
